Behind the Print

Why we print to order instead of stocking shelves

We do not hold inventory. When an order comes in, the file goes to a printer and the piece is made for you. It is slower than pulling from a shelf, and it is the only way a studio our size can offer a catalog this wide.

What printing to order makes possible

  • Two hundred designs instead of the dozen that would fit on a shelf.
  • No clearance bin, which means no pressure to sell a design we are not proud of.
  • Color and size changes that do not require us to guess demand in advance.

What it costs you

Time. Most orders leave the studio within three business days, and a custom color or a reprint can add a day. If you need something by a specific date, tell us in the order notes — we will confirm by email before we start printing rather than after.

A shelf is a bet on what people will want. A printer is a bet on what they already asked for.

The upside for you is that a piece is never sitting in a bin for eight months collecting dust and fingerprints before it reaches your desk.
