Working from customer sketches

Roughly once a week someone sends us a sketch, a photo of their dog, or a description of a character that does not exist yet. Most of those requests become something. Here is the path they take.

What actually helps us

  • One clear reference image, even a bad phone photo, beats three paragraphs of description.
  • The single feature that matters most — the ears, the beard, the hat. We will get that right and simplify the rest.
  • The size and the purpose. A desk piece and a cake topper are different builds.

What we simplify, and why

A figurine three inches tall has room for about four readable features. A sketch with fifteen details has to lose eleven of them or it becomes noise. We keep the silhouette, the face and the one detail you told us mattered, and we let the rest go.

We are not shrinking your drawing. We are translating it into a different material.

Custom work starts at a small batch size and takes a couple of weeks. If you have an idea, send it — the worst answer you will get is that it is not a shape that survives being small.
